MyScreenResolution.net is part of the Easy Digital Tools network: lightweight, fast tools with clear results.
MyScreenResolution.net is a quick diagnostic tool for checking your screen and browser display settings. It’s built for responsive design testing, troubleshooting layout issues, and understanding how your device reports screen size and scaling to websites.
What this site shows
- Screen resolution: your device’s full display size in pixels.
- Available screen: usable screen area excluding some OS UI elements.
- Viewport size: the usable browser area (important for responsive layouts).
- Device Pixel Ratio (DPR): how CSS pixels map to physical pixels on high-DPI screens.
- Orientation / touch support: useful for mobile testing.
- Screen size estimates: a best-effort diagonal estimate (automatic) and a more accurate estimate using credit card calibration.
Common use cases
- Responsive web design: verifying breakpoints and layout behavior.
- UI testing: checking viewport size, zoom, and scaling differences across devices.
- Support: quickly reporting screen/viewport values when troubleshooting.
- Display settings: understanding effects from OS scaling or browser zoom.
Important notes
- Screen vs viewport: your screen resolution can be much larger than your browser viewport.
- Zoom and scaling: browser zoom and OS display scaling can change reported values.
- Mobile browsers: toolbars and safe areas can affect viewport measurements.
- DPR matters: high-DPI devices may report smaller CSS pixel sizes than their physical resolution.
Screen size estimation and credit card calibration
In addition to resolution and viewport details, this tool can estimate your physical screen size (diagonal in inches/cm). There are two methods:
- Automatic estimate: A best-effort guess based on how devices typically report resolution and scaling. This is useful for a quick idea, but accuracy varies a lot (especially with external monitors and unusual scaling setups).
- Credit card calibration: For better accuracy, you can place a physical credit card against your screen and adjust the on-page card until it matches. The tool then calculates an estimated width/height/diagonal based on that calibration.
These estimates can still be affected by browser zoom, OS display scaling, and device pixel ratio, so treat them as approximate measurements.
Privacy approach
This tool is designed to be lightweight and privacy-friendly. Display-related values are typically calculated in your browser and shown instantly. Like most websites, standard server logs may exist for security and troubleshooting.
